My Wedding

My name is Havtam, and I’m an Ethiopian-Israeli. I married an Israeli of Polish and Yemeni heritage. If you think planning a wedding is simplethink again. My father was convinced that there was only one right way to organize a wedding. This project explores the dissonance between deeply rooted Ethiopian traditions and contemporary Israeli culture, as reflected in the process of planning a wedding between two worlds. Through real conversations and absurd yet relatable situations, it reveals the clashes between tradition and modernity—and the humor that emerges from those cultural differences. The project is an illustrated animated film based on real conversations. With humor, it documents the arguments, misunderstandings, and cultural gaps that accompanied the journey toward my intercultural wedding.
