Industrial Design
A smart wearable system designed for individuals with Parkinson's disease whose walking is interrupted by episodes of freezing. The system is primarily intended for those in the early to moderate stages of the disease—individuals who remain ambulatory and functionally independent but require support to maintain their confidence, gait continuity, and independence over time. The system monitors gait patterns and muscle activity, providing—when needed—brief, precisely timed mechanical assistance for hip flexion. This assistance aims to support the execution of the next step and help the user regain a stable walking rhythm.
