Project 32/18 is located in the historic Ishmaeloff Hotel from 1925 at the corner of 18 Yavne Street and 32 Montefiore Street in Tel Aviv, originally designed by architect Yehuda Magidovitch as a hotel combining a commercial floor and hospitality floors. The project offers a planning and community response for a target population of teens up to age 25 who have experienced family and community disconnection due to their sexual orientation, providing them with a supportive framework that includes a temporary roof and a protected space for recovery alongside a comprehensive emotional, social, and economic rehabilitation process. Architecturally, the building is characterized by a clear and functional separation between public areas open to the general public (a bar-restaurant, an urban courtyard, workspace areas, and workshops), the residents' community areas (a lounge, kitchen, and social and psychological therapy rooms), and the private residential areas which are physically separated with a separate entrance. This separation allows residents to manage "selective visibility," granting them the ability to choose when to be exposed and when to return to absolute privacy and security. -
